Entrepreneur's Guide: Balancing Your Hustle

I am a major fan of hustling for what you want, going after your dreams, and creating the life you want. However, I have also learned to be a MAJOR fan of knowing when to take a break.

As a self proclaimed boss lady goal digger, on any given day, you may find me working hard on expanding expressions bracelets or traveling for and/or bringing awareness to SaRatta Speaks. Whatever the day, week or month brings, I am learning to schedule in breaks. Times where I disconnect from my life as an entrepreneur and enjoy my personal life.

I already know what you are thinking and yes, this is far easier said than done. There are things that happen outside of your control (with your business) that may pull you into work mode during your breaks. The idea here is to create as much rest time as possible so you don't overextend yourself or crash and burn and not be able to pick up the pieces.

As a small business owner, you need to establish daily routines/habits and operate on a schedule to effectively execute your strategies and reach your business goals. Ideally you want to have a set time (or times) of day that you dedicate to working on your business. Building in time for social activities, exercise and relaxation are crucial in managing your emotional, mental and physical well being to maintain balance.

A great way to schedule your day is by looking at it in segments. I break my day into 5 segments so that I am able to disconnect from work sometime between the hours of 4 - 6pm and allow my mind time to rest before I go to bed.

Scheduling Your Day

Segment 1: Morning

Do the MOST important things in the morning. This is when your mind is most alert.

Segment 2: Midday

Take time to eat, have a break or anything that will re energize you to complete your day.

Segment 3: Afternoon

Do the tasks that require you to be social or that are not as mentally taxing. i.e. Social Media tasks

Segment 4: Early Evening

Measure your success for the day. Plan ahead. Prepare for relaxation.

Segment 5: Evening

This is your time to connect with family, significant other or relax to read a book or watch a movie. However you choose to relax, this is your time before heading to bed for the night.
